On-Country Pathways is an Indigenous owned and operated not for profit organisation based in the New South Wales/Victoria border community of Albury Wodonga.
On-Country Pathways deliver employment and career pathway programs for 15 to 24-year-old Indigenous young people – in the construction sector. Programs are free for participants.
On-Country Pathways programs are about building individual knowledge, skills and attitudes that lead to employment. They partner with high schools, TAFEs, universities, construction companies, local Aboriginal organisations and training organisations to offer:
work experience
traineeships
cadetships
job placement
all in a culturally safe environment. Central to their programs is a mentoring initiative run by Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
National Indigenous Australian’s Agency (NIAA) has funded On-Country Pathways under the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP) Stage 1 – Community Co-Design, to undertake engagement with community in the NSW Riverina Murray region to identify barriers to employment and come up with local solutions.
They are looking for community members from the Riverina Murray region that have a passion for Indigenous youth and their future employment potential, to participate in and support their co-design engagement activities during February and March 2023.
