The sheep and farmed goat industries and government (at a state and national level) have agreed to transition towards mandatory electronic identification (eID). The NSW Government have announced a Sheep and Goat eID rebate scheme to supplement the cost of purchasing and installing eID tagging systems. Primary producers, processors, saleyards (including local government saleyards) and stock and station agents may be eligible for the rebate.

The rebate will be available to saleyards and processors in the sheep and farmed goat sector from 1 August 2023 and for primary producers and stock and station agents from 3 October 2023.
