Red Cross Emergency Relief Payments for migrants on temporary visas

The Red Cross National portal to assist temporary migrants (anyone in Australia who is not a citizen or permanent resident) to access emergency relief is now operational as of 5/5/2020.

Emergency relief payments are for people who:

  • are not Australian citizens or permanent residents, and

  • have no access to services like Centrelink or other support payments, and

  • have no income, savings or means of supporting themselves, and

  • have urgent essential needs like food, medicine and shelter

Emergency relief payments can provide vital short-term relief when people have to make tough choices and decide between essentials. They help with basic needs, like food, medicine, and immediate housing, to help people stay safe.

People need to provide information about their situation, dependents, and visa details as well as their most recent bank statement. Once they make their application Red Cross will contact them to discuss their situation.
