Regional Development Australia Riverina are looking for Local Welcomers in our regional towns across the Riverina.

Role of TWE Local Welcomer

Local Welcomers work alongside the Local Connector (full time role) to support essential workers and their families. The Local Connector remains the primary point of contact and is responsible for eligibility, referrals and overall coordination. Local Welcomers provide on the ground community connection, local knowledge and social support, as guided by the Local Connector. This includes:

  • Personalised Support: Offer informal, community – based support to essential workers and their families during arrival and early settlement

  • Local Knowledge & Connections: Connect newcomers with community groups, sporting clubs, and social networks to help them feel at home.

  • Logistical Assistance: Aid in navigating local services and connecting with schools or childcare.

  • Partner Employment Support: Assist partners and families of essential workers identify existing employment opportunities in the community that may or may not have been formally advertised.

  • Community Engagement: Assist the design and hosting of local events to help newcomers integrate. 

  • Local Resources: Assist in the collection of current local resources to include in the Welcome Experience Kit.
