Expressions of Interest for the Australian Government’s Inland Rail Interface Improvement Program will open on Monday 17 August 2020 and close on 18 September 2020.

Individuals, businesses, organisations and governments with ideas on how to make the most of Inland Rail through improved connections or enhanced supply chain productivity are invited to submit their project proposals.

Through this program, eligible project proponents are matched with specialist business advisors to develop their ideas and assess costs and benefits through feasibility studies and strategic business cases. Advisors are appointed and paid by the Program and work with proponents to build a case for investment which follows best practice infrastructure investment planning processes.

An online information session will be held next Wednesday 19 August from 11am to 12noon. Register to join the event, find out more about the program and application process, and get your questions answered live.

The Department recently released our EY Regional Intelligence reports. Please find below the links to the Southern New South Wales and The Victoria Inland Rail Long Term Opportunity regional Intelligence reports developed by EY.

The study looked at four regions along the Inland Rail alignment, Queensland, Northern New South Wales, Southern New South Wales and Victoria, identifying specific investment opportunities, long term jobs and economic value. These four regions cover a total of 103 local government areas approximately 50km east and 100km west of the rail line.

For Southern New South Wales and Victoria, the study found that Inland Rail can boost gross regional product in the first 50 years of the rail line's operation by up to:

This economic uplift builds on the boost from construction and operation captured in the 2015 business case for Inland Rail.
