Credit: Total HRM

Stepping into leadership can be challenging. Suddenly, you’re not just responsible for getting the work done — you’re responsible for helping other people perform, communicate and work well together.

This practical one-hour workshop introduces small business owners, managers and emerging leaders to some of the foundations of effective leadership.

You’ll explore what changes when you become responsible for leading others and learn practical approaches that can help you communicate more clearly, set expectations and build stronger working relationships.

You’ll learn about:

  • the difference between managing work and leading people

  • what employees need from their leaders

  • how your communication style affects others

  • setting clear expectations and providing direction

  • practical ways to build trust, accountability and engagement.

Presented by Lucie Wallis, an experienced HR practitioner and facilitator. Lucie helps business owners and managers navigate the people challenges of running a workplace and brings a practical, down-to-earth approach, making complex HR and workplace issues easier to understand and apply.

Attendance is complimentary and provided by Total HRM as part of 2026 NSW Small Business Month.
