Introduction to AI in the Workplace

Credit: Total HRM

AI is changing the way we work, but for many small businesses, knowing where to start and where to be cautious can feel overwhelming.

This practical one-hour workshop cuts through the hype and provides a clear, plain-English introduction to how artificial intelligence can be used in everyday business and people management.

We’ll look at where AI can genuinely add value in areas such as recruitment, employee communication, documentation and performance management, as well as where human judgement remains essential.

You’ll learn about:

  • what generative AI is and how businesses are using it

  • practical workplace applications for AI

  • opportunities to save time and improve everyday processes

  • important risks including privacy, bias, accuracy and compliance

  • why human oversight and judgement remain essential.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what AI can and can’t do, along with practical ideas for using it responsibly in your workplace.

Presented by Lucie Wallis, an experienced HR practitioner and facilitator. Lucie helps business owners and managers navigate the people challenges of running a workplace and brings a practical, down-to-earth approach, making complex HR and workplace issues easier to understand and apply.

Attendance is complimentary and provided by Total HRM as part of 2026 NSW Small Business Month.
