On Thursday 18 June 2026, RDA Riverina, in partnership with Temora Shire Council, hosted Meet, Mingle & Connect at Temora Arts Centre in Temora Shire—a relaxed and welcoming evening for newly arrived essential workers, long-time residents and community leaders to come together, connect, and learn more about opportunities in Temora.

Attendees were officially welcomed to both the event and the Temora community by Mayor Rick Firman, who spoke about the importance of community and highlighted how each and every person plays a role in shaping Temora’s friendly and inclusive atmosphere. His message reinforced the value of connection and the contribution individuals make to the strength and vibrancy of the local community.

The event was also attended by key representatives including Deputy Mayor Graham Sinclair, General Manager Melissa Boxall, and Craig Sinclair from Temora Shire Council, whose support and involvement helped bring the event to life and contributed to its overall success.

Brooke Bremer from Temora Shire Council provided an overview of her role within Council and outlined the range of activities available throughout the evening. These included mahjong, ukulele, face painting, pottery, watercolour and charcoal—offering something for people of all ages and interests, and creating a relaxed environment for attendees to engage and interact. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about Grounded and the new app launched by Council during the event, further showcasing local initiatives designed to support community connection and engagement.

Attendees also heard from Jay, who shared an overview of The Welcome Experience program, highlighting the support available to essential workers and their families when relocating to the region. This provided valuable insights into the services and connections available to help individuals settle into their new community with confidence.

Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to build meaningful connections, share stories and experiences, and learn more about what Temora has to offer. The creative activities encouraged conversation and collaboration, helping to break down barriers and foster a genuine sense of belonging. The presence and contribution of community groups, including the U3A team, played an important role in the success of the event.

The event created a warm and inclusive space where both new and existing residents could come together, strengthening community ties and celebrating the unique spirit of Temora. RDA Riverina extends its thanks to the Temora Arts Centre team for their support in hosting the event and helping to create such a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
